ATIRA Develops Clean Processing Technology

Zero discharge is high on the agenda of the global textile community. The Indian textile and chemical producers are gradually coming around to practicing zero discharge. In this endeavour, ATIRA has developed a no salt, low alkali processing technique that will help reduce the burden of waste water management in textile mills. Says K K Misra, CEO, ATIRA, "Textile industry pollution is becoming a problem. And we have developed a process wherein the inlet is clean, so the outlet is easy to treat. Thus, we have a no salt, low alkali technology, for textile mills."

The technology was developed in association with a Denmark company, industry trials have been conducted in Gujarat, with good results. "Textile mills have appreciated the results. This is now a proven technology, the most practical technology on the market, and by far the most economical. We have submitted a report to the Ministry of Textiles too," said Misra. ATIRA will target the processing industry in Pali, in Rajasthan. Pali Processors Association has given its consent to adopting the no salt, low alkali technology. And has requested the state government to support ATIRA to help install the same in the cluster. Rajasthan government has earmarked land for this, informed Misra.
