The Indian Texpreneurs Federation has pointed out that even as India is the largest cotton textile exporter to Bangladesh, in cotton fabrics, we can do better. The ITF has pointed out that India dominates the Bangladesh cotton yarn market. Here, India is the number one supplier. However, Bangladesh's imports of cotton fabrics is much higher than that of yarn. Bangladesh's cotton yarn imports in 2015 amounted to US$ 819 million. And cotton fabric imports are to the tune of US$ 3520 million, 4.5 times more than yarn imports. However, in cotton fabrics, India's share is just 12%. According to ITF, "The share of fabrics in Bangladesh's total trade has been increasing every year. The Indian textile industry needs to seriously look at this opportunity."
