The 10th Texfair Receives Warm Response

The 10th Texfair organised by The SIMA at CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, Coimbatore during 20-23rd May, 2016 received warm response though the industry has been dazed under slack phase. At the inauguration, M. Senthilkumar, Chairman of the SIMA said, “The international studies projected the potential of Indian textile business to grow at 10-12% in the domestic market and 15% in the export market besides creating 20 - 22 million new jobs and would increase the business size to US$ 350 billion by 2025 from the present size of US$ 110 billion.”   Eminent personalities Dr. Palani G Periasamy, President, Southern India Chambers of Commerce & Industry (SICCI), was present as the Chief Guest and E K Ponnuswamy, President, CODISSIA was the Guest of Honour at the inauguration ceremony.

 

The exhibition had about 200 exhibitors and attracted approximately one lakh footfalls during the four days of the event. Domestic exhibitors from Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and also overseas exhibitors from China, Japan and EU countries have participated in the event.

 

The show is estimated to generate business worth over Rs. 100 crores apart from reconfirming their earlier orders as per feedbacks given by the exhibitors. Most of the exhibitors had showcased their new innovations at Texfair 2016 which enable the mills to conserve energy, improve quality, enable automation, online quality and production monitoring, improved ambient conditions, better working performance of the machine, producing value added products, low cost automation, etc.

 

E.K. Ponnusamy, President, CODISSIA in his address as Guest of Honour appreciated the organisers of Texfair for providing the opportunity to showcase textile machines, spares, materials, additives, dyes, etc., under one roof to help the textile value chain.

 

Dr. Palani G Periasamy, President, SICCI in his inaugural address appreciated SIMA for its role in developing entire textile value chain right from cotton research. He mentioned that since China is drifting away from textile manufacturing, India, being the second largest textile manufacturing country in the world could become the clothier of the globe in the coming decade.  He urged all the textile machinery, spares and accessories manufacturers to concentrate on innovation, energy efficiency, automation, online services, etc., to make India globally competitive.

 

Along with Texfair, there were concurrent seminars were also conducted during event on 21-22nd May, 2016, which attracted over 150 participants.
