Oerlikon Neumag Receives Order For Biocomponent Staple Fibre Plant From Italy

Oerlikon Neumag has received an order for a bicomponent staple fibre plant from a long-time regular customer in Italy, the company has officially announced.

The order comprises a plant to produce sheath or core fibres made of polyester, polypropylene as well as polyethylene and it is scheduled to be commissioned for the second half of 2017, according to a company release. "The investment is being made in the scope of a planned extension of our customer's staple fibre production capacities. As a total solution provider, we were able to convince our customer with our technology," Oerlikon Neumag's Staple Fibre Sales Director Gerrit Van Loenen, who is responsible for the project, said.

Oerlikon Neumag set up its first bicomponent staple fibre plant in 1995. The company offers solutions for various fibre cross-sections including "sheath" or "core", "side-by-side", "island in the sea" as well as "orange type" and "trilobal". Their applications are manifold, and cover self-crimping fibres, binding fibres, as well as super-micro fibres, besides hollow fibres.

Oerlikon Neumag' s bicomponent staple fibre technology is characterised in particular by very robust nozzle packages, which do not have any expensive wearing parts, which in turn significantly reduces costs. Thus, processing costs while cleaning nozzle packages are kept to a minimum.

Additionally, there is also the possibility of a separate temperature control in the spinning beam for the two polymers. Quality and viscosity of polymers can thus be adapted exactly according to process requirements, the release said.
