Dyneema Turns Stronger With Version 1.1

Within a year of launching the first generation of Dyneema denim for motorcycle clothing, DSM Dyneema has announced the arrival of a new fabric in the market (4Q2016) that is a marked improvement on the original product.

According to DSM Dyneema spokesperson, “The first generation product that was out in 2015 had fallen just short of the four second slide time required to pass the standard impact abrasion test EN13595.  The new innovation that comes in less than a year’s time has succeeded in passing the test.”

David Borras from El Solitario, the legendary Spanish motorcycle company, seconded the opinion stating, “These new fabrics can make you feel safe without being a nuisance. You actually don’t feel that the technology is there. It’s however, doing good things for you. What a beautiful product.”

A company spokesperson explained that the product, Dyneema is 15 times stronger than steel but floats on water.   It has long been used to moor oilrigs, sail ships, stop bullets and repair human ligaments. “As a fabric component, it’s becoming increasingly popular with high-performance sports – from mountain climbing to motorcycling. Besides offering unparalleled protection, Dyneema fiber is also soft, light and thermally conductive – keeping your skin feeling cool in the sweatiest of conditions,” he added.
