SDC UK Felicitates Dr. PR Roy With Gold Medal
SDC UK awards gold medal to Dr. PR Roy revered as the “Father of Denim in India” for his distinguished service to the textile industry. Roy is a PhD in textiles from University of Manchester and has 40 years of experience in the industry, research and teaching.
Roy is the chairman of Diagonal Consulting (India) and has spearheaded the development of Indigo wool and silk. He was instrumental in identification of business opportunities and setting up of business in association with McKenzie USA. He took up the challenge of formulating, negotiating and finalizing strategic alliances with leading American and European textile companies. He was former Group Chief Executive (Textiles) of Arvind Mills Ltd has immensely contributed to the growth of Indian textile industry.
