Softech's Cotmagic For Fancy Yarns Is A Spinner's Delight

Softech Controls Private Limited is part of a 115-years old and renowned Cotmac group. It's an Indian professional engineering company that provides industrial automation, engineering services and textile automation systems. In short, Softech is a perfect blend of Cotmac's expertise in automation and their process and marketing expertise in the field of textile engineering.

In the recently concluded India ITME 2016 textile machinery exhibition, Softech Control made a dazzling display of textile technology. The company has a vision to become one of the top textile firms by exploring the latest trends and technologies and automation solutions.

Vikas Banduke,  Director, Softech Control, said, "We are committed to give more productive, energy efficient automation solutions and technologies across the textile value chain from fibre to finished products." He was speaking to Textile Excellence at the India ITME 2016 exhibition.

"With strong domestic network having branch offices at Nagpur, Surat, Hyderabad, Bangalore and head office at Pune, along with global agency network, Softech Controls has become a brand to reckon with on the international front as well," he added.

Speaking about Softech Control's premium product Cotmagic, Vikas said, "It needs a magician to make miracles happen. Cotmagic produces visual effects in yarn to achieve aesthetic and equally artistic production. However, it takes much more than sheer touch of magic to get such consistent world class results. This is where Cotmagic displays expertise through precise application of motion control techniques that come to the fore.  Cotmagic is fancy yarn attachment for ring spinning machines."

"We made optimum use of latest motion control technology. It varies drafting speed precisely and produces exactly what is needed," he explained.  Cotmagic's design abilities include slub, multicounty, multitwist, slub on slub, negative slub and many other effects in the yarn.

Dwelling on Cotmagic's technology and capabilities, Vikas said, "This is the new success formula for fancy yarn manufacturing. Cotmagic is an advanced servo based system. It uses mechatronics from world's leader Siemens, Germany and Baumuller, Germany.

"The Cotmagic components include heavy duty compact gear box and servo motors and drives. Our product provides specially designed compact gear boxes as per ring frame specifications which simplify the mechanism, retain durability and sustain its best performance," he elaborated. Touching on the servo motors and drives, Vikas added, "Cotmagic is equipped with special quality dynamic business servo motors with latest generation motion control technology. This precisely controls speed, acceleration and deceleration and torque. This ensures dimensional accuracy as well as adequate strength of slub. Servo motors with inbuilt resolver system work on feedback principle to guarantee none slub missing problem."

When queried about the fancyware, a software aspect of the product, Vikas explains, "The heart of Cotmagic system is its sophisticated fancyware which is the fruitful result of extensive R&D by the Cotmagic team.  Cotmagic offers 15 inch wide color TFT touch screen to facilitate designing of various slub effects."

Asked to explain fancyware software, he said, "Fancyware is specially designed software consisting of different menu items that include fancy manager, display of slub parameter, diagnostics and machine parameter. Fancy manager allows to create recipe through which user can define nomenclature and corresponding parameters for slub yarn. " When queried about growth prospects, Vikas said, "Over the years, Softech has managed to add quite a number of elite clients by providing innovative solutions. In today's competitive age, it is important to provide something new sustaining in the market. Using co-creation with customers, Softech has effectively done that." Softech's clients include Arvind, Lakshmi, Siyaram's, Raymond, Indorama, E-TCO, DyStar, ICO-SPIN and MAPCO SPIN among others. Talking about the business areas of interest in the export segment, he said, “We have a strong presence in South East Asia, Turkey, Iran and Africa. We are planning to grow two to three times, by next year over this year's turnover. We are all set to enter the synthetics market.  We have customers from Indonesia and Malaysia for these products.”

On a final note, sounding off about the benefits of the innovation carried out by Softech Control, Vikas explained, "It can be retrofit on any type of ring frame with any type of drafting system. Two ring frames can be driven with one single controller. You can employ it for easy switch over between fancy and normal yarn. It requires only a few minutes.  It optionally provides networking and production data monitoring software.  Maintenance also does not pose problems for this product as spare parts are easily available all over the world. What's more, it is user-friendly and compatible with Microsoft Windows software."
