TAI's 'Make In India' Textile Conference Receives An Overwhelming Response

The international textile conference on 'Make In India - Global Vision of Indian Textile Industry' which was held from December 1 and December 2, 2016, at The Lalit, by the Textile Association (India) received an overwhelming response.

Maharashtra Govt's Principal Secretary (Textiles) Ujjwal Uke, attended the event as the chief guest and delivered the inaugural address. He said that industry and government should work hand-in-hand to achieve the 'Make in India', according to a Textile Association (India) release. TAI Mumbai Unit Chairman and Convener of the Conference V C Gupte said that the 'Make In India' initiative is aimed at facilitating investment, foster innovation, enhance skill development, protect intellectual property and build best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure in India. The textile sector is one of major thrust areas planned in this mission to provide growth drivers, foreign direct investment and employment opportunities, he said.

In his keynote address, Reliance Industries Limited President - Polyester Chain R D Udeshi highlighted the comparative advantages and competitive strengths of India as fast emerging economy. He spoke about fibre base, modern technologies under the TUFs scheme and thrust on technical textiles. He remarked that the industry should avail of opportunities to excel at the international level. TAI's Mumbai unit also felicitated Jayantibhai Jariwala, Chairman and Managing Director, Colourtex Industries Pvt Ltd Chairman & Director Jayantibhai Jariwala and Precision Rubber Industries Pvt Ltd Chairman G T Dembla with lifetime achievement awards. At the conference was 'Make In India-Textile Perspective'. R B Gupte, Director, MSME Development Institute, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, presented a paper titled 'Make In India - An Approach To Global Manufacturing Hub'

Dr A Raj, Senior Advisor, ZED, Quality Council of India, presented a paper titled 'Journey Towards Challenges - Best Practices & ZED Certification'.

Dr Swapna Mishra, Director of Textile Sector Skill Council (TSC) made a presentation on the role of her organisation in supporting the Make In India Mission through skilling, the release stated.
