Member of Parliament, speaking at an inaugural function at Choutuppal, Bhoora Narsaiah Goud announced that he was attempting to get the Goods and Services Tax levied on handlooms repealed.
He was speaking at a handloom work shed constructed at an estimated cost of INR 50 lakh at Choutuppal, Choutuppal mandal in Yadadri district.
Speaking on the occasion, he mentioned that the fight for the handloom sector on the floor of parliament has succeeded in reducing GST on handlooms from 18 to 5 percent. He assured the gathering that along with a host of other MPs, he would voice the concerns of weavers in the forthcoming parliament session.
Speaking to weavers, he said, “They should develop as entrepreneurs and they should weave clothes as per the new trends to get more orders and income.”
