Union Textile Ministry To Set Up Trend Prediction Center At Delhi

Official ministry sources disclosed that India will soon get into setting up a center for textiles trends forecasting. Being the first of its kind in India, It will be set up at the national capital New Delhi. Textile Secretary Raghvendra Singh speaking at a press briefing disclosed that the proposed centre has already received the green signal from the government and will become operational within a month’s time. The center is slated to be located at a prime property owned by the ministry at the heart of the city. Briefing reporters,, Textiles Secretary Raghvendra Singh said the proposed centre had already received government approval and is slated to become operational as early as within this month in a prime property of the ministry located in the heart of the city. The center comprises complex facilities meant to boost India’s exports. The facilities include an incubation and innovation centre that will engender design interventions besides incubating textile start-ups. In addition there will be crafts and textiles depository according to Singh. "India doesn't have a trend forecasting centre. We depend on international trends, which we then pass on to the craftsmen to make copies. "It is high time that we became influencers of trends," he said. The centre will make use of commercial intelligence in the sector to forecast trends that will become visible in the next six months. The minister reaffirmed that the centre will be  set up within this month.
