India's Textile Machinery Exports Down By 11.50% In 2019

India's textile machinery industry has been severely impacted due to the economic slowdown and poor capital investments happening in the industry. Exports of India's textile machinery registered a fall of 11.50% to US$ 743.32 million in 2019, while in previous year (2018), the sector witnessed a growth of 18.84% with an export of US$ 839.94 million. Spinning, twisting and yarn preparation machines continued to be the largest exported product in the segment, though exports fell by 29.86% to US$ 214.9 million in 2019 over the previous year. Bangladesh remains the top export market of India's textile machinery goods. Commodity-wise textile machinery exports from India Spinning, twisting and yarn preparation machinery exports fell 29.86% in 2019. The commodity currently stakes 29% share in the total textile machinery exports of India. Bangladesh was the top export market for these Indian machines, with exports of US$ 35.99 million, a fall of 35.31% in 2019 over the previous year. Cotton spinning ring frame, which is the major exported item under this commodity, witnessed a fall of 31.96% to US$ 118.67 million in 2019 over the previous year. For cotton spinning frame, Pakistan is now the major market, with imports from India worth US$ 25.10 million. Followed by cotton spinning ring frame machinery, cotton processing machinery is the second top exported item with a growth of 90.22% to US$ 90.22 million in 2019 over the previous year. Cotton spinning roving frames registered a negative growth of 39.95% and cotton combing machines too fell by 33.36%. Blowroom machines which totalled to US$ 11.03 in 2018, witnessed a drop of 47.47% in the 2019 with an export value of US$ 5.97 million. Auxiliary machinery used with other machines too remained the second highest traded commodity in 2019. Exports however declined by 7.45% to US$ 163.92 million. The commodity stakes 22% share in the total textile machinery export of India. Germany is the top export market for this commodity, with an export value of US$ 28.27 million and growth of 18.67%. Exports to China fell 17.46%. Parts and accessories of machines used for extruding, drawing and texturing of their auxiliary machinery is the topmost commodity under this segment, the export totalled US$ 48.58 million with a growth of 6.98% in 2019 over the previous year. Netherland remain the top market for this product, with a value of US$ 18.68 million, an increase of 9.33% in 2019 over the previous year. Auxiliary parts and accessories for cotton processing machines too have registered a negative growth of 27.38% to US$ 13.94 million. Exports of printing machinery* have witnessed a rise by 19.66% in 2019 to US$% 144.92 million over the previous year and it stakes 19% share in the total textile machinery exports of India. Bangladesh is the top export market for this commodity with an export of US$ 17.35 million, -19.95% growth in 2019. A part of other printing machinery used for ancillary to printing is the topmost commodity exported under the section from India to the world. The exports of this commodity totalled to US$ 19.25 million, with minor fall of 0.54% in 2019 over the previous year. Weaving machine (looms) exports have gone down by 7.14% to US$ 34.75 million in 2019 over the previous year, while the commodity witnessed a rise of 24.54% in 2018. Vietnam is the top market of the India's weaving machines. The exports to Vietnam totalled to US$ 5.61 million with a growth of 12.58%, while the exports to Bangladesh dropped to 36.98% to US$ 2.37 in 2019 over the previous year. Knitting machine exports, which has always been low on demand for India, has witnessed a rise of 31.87% to US$ 2.87 million in 2019 over the previous year. Sewing machine exports are gradually progressing. In 2019 the exports of sewing machine totalled to US$ 58.68 million with a growth of 0.94% over the previous year. Germany is the top export market for this product, the exports totalled to U$ 16.13 million with growth of 9.93%. Under this commodity, needles for other types (excluding HH type) of sewing machine have been exported the most from India. The exports totalled to US$ 18.3 million with a negative growth of 7.31%. Country-wise textile machinery exports from India Though Bangladesh remains as the top export market for India's textile machinery products, the exports to the country have declined and lost its share in 2019 over the previous year. Textile machinery export to Bangladesh totalled to US$ 82.99, with a declined growth of 26.81% in 2019 over the previous year. Bangladesh stakes 11% share in the total exports of India's textile machinery products. Spinning, twisting and yarn preparation machines were the most exported commodity to Bangladesh in 2019 with value of US$ 35.99 million, but the growth has declined by 35.31% over the previous year. Printing machinery exports too have declined by 20% to US$ 17.35 million. Germany too has retained its position as the second top export market for India's textile machinery products. Exports to Germany totalled to US$ 63.39 million with an adverse growth of 2.40%. Currently the country stakes 9% share in the total exports of India's textile machinery products. Auxiliary machine remains as the top exported commodity to Germany and has perceived a growth of 18.67% to US$ 28.27 million in 2019. Export of spinning, twisting and yarn preparation machine to Germany have decline by 38.27% to US$ 5.7 million in 2019. Sewing machinery has shown positive growth in Germany's export market, with a value of US$ 16.13 million, growth of 16.13% in 2019 over the previous year. Pakistan that ranked as the 6th largest export market for India's textile machinery in 2018 is now the third largest market in 2019. Exports to Pakistan totalled to US$ 38.78 million, but the growth declined by 2.73% in 2019. Due to low demands from Turkey and Vietnam, Pakistan has been able to climb to the third position. Spinning, twisting and yarn preparation machine is majorly exported to the country, which totalled US$ 31.59 million with a growth of 6.43% in 2019 over previous year. Textile machinery exports to Netherland from India have declined by 29.12% to US$ 32.86 million in 2019 over the previous year. But country has still managed to climb one position up, now standing as the fourth largest export market for India's textile machinery goods. Netherland has witnessed a drop in all the commodities of textile machinery sector. It's only the auxiliary machinery that has perceived a positive growth of 9.1% to US$ 18.77 million in 2019 over the previous year. Spinning, twisting and yarn preparation machine exports to Netherland which was the major commodity in 2018, has witnessed a drop 55.78% in 2019. China and Vietnam are the fifth and sixth largest market for India's textile machinery products. But both the countries have witnessed a drop in exports from India by 22.66% and 45.62% in 2019 over the previous year. Vietnam which stood as the fourth largest market, is now the sixth largest one due to steep drop in the spinning, twisting and yarn preparation machine exports, which witnessed a drop of 61.25% to US$ 14.67 million in 2019 over the previous year. Weaving machine exports to Vietnam have perceived a rise of 12.58% to US$ 5.61 million. From the top seven export markets, Italy is the only country to witness a positive growth in 2019. Exports to Italy totalled to US$ 26.79 million with a growth of 19.35%. Currently the country shares 4% stake in India's total exports of textile machinery goods. The 100% rise in printing machinery* exports to Italy has been the main reason to bring the country to 7th position from 10th. Printing machinery export to country totalled to US$ 15.84 million. Turkey has witnessed the major fall amongst the top ten export markets. Exports fell by 52.74% to US$ 25.98 million in 2019 over the previous year. The country was the third largest market in 2018, while now it's the 8th largest market. Spinning, twisting and yarn preparation machine was exported the most in 2018, but registered a fall of 52.95% in 2019 to US$ 14.83 million over the previous year. *Printing machinery also includes exports of computer printers
