South America: Jeanologia, market leader in sustainable garment finishing technology

Spain’s Jeanologia enjoys market leadership position in the South American market, in green garment finishing technology. In Colombia, 95 percent of garment finishing processes using laser and ecological techniques are developed by technology from Jeanologia, while in Brazil the company enjoys a 70 percent share in this segment.

Laser, e-soft and ozone technologies developed by the company save water, energy and chemicals while reducing costs in the finishing process of garments. The leading brands use these sustainable technologies to develop garments. Jeanologia, recently awarded with WSGN Fashion Awards for best sustainable design team of the world, participated in Colombiatex from January 21-23, and Première Vision Brazil from January 21-22, 2014. The company presented its latest sustainable technologies for garment finishing.

During the Colombiatex exhibition, Jeanologia displayed the Flexi HS laser technology, eco-washing G2, E-soft and E-mark software. A Jeanologia designer worked with Colombian designers using the software E-Mark for getting the highest returns on their productions. Also, designers were able to make their own samples with the latest designs and techniques of Jeanologia.

During Premiere Vision Brazil, Jeanologia showcased the E-Mark software, the only software developed exclusively for apparel design laser, which is intended for more efficient production, also allowing the creation and improvement of designs on jeans. It is auser-friendly software, fast to design and multilingual, also has a constantly updated database, artificial vision control, design preview, production time estimation and analysis of remote control. This achieves to optimize productivity and minimize production errors.

Enrique Silla, President of Jeanologia said, "Both Colombian and Brazilian market are aware of the problems being experienced by the textile industry and they have become aware of the environment and the health of workers. These markets have understood the technology and now is when they are prepared to go a step further getting the highest returns on production, by performing in a sustainable, efficient and automated way, while caring for the final look of the garment."

Also, regarding the potential of these two markets, Silla added, “Ninety-five percent of garment finishing processes using laser and ecological techniques in the Colombian market are developed by our technology, while in Brazil we enjoy a 70 percent share."

Silla highlighted that the leading brands in the Brazilian market such as Calvin Klein, John John, Colcci, Forum, Carmin, Damyller, Lança Perfume, Morena Rosa, Osmoze Stream Zara, Renner C & A, Marisa, and Oppnus Sawary and Colombian brands including Army, Be Kool, Pronto, Studio F, Kenzo, Willdy, Atmosfere, Supreme, CI Jeans, Chevignon, Tennis or Americanio among others, already use these sustainable technologies developed by Jeanologia.

Láser, G2, E-soft :  Ecological technologies for garment finishing

Jeanologia, over the last 20 years, has been developing ecological textile technology such as textile laser, oxygen and ozone garment washing and garment softening by nano bubbles. More specifically, textile laser reproduces vintage and usage effects on garments, avoiding use of harmful techniques for workers and allowing energy, time, water and chemicals saving.

Also, the G2eco-washer uses ozone and oxygen from the atmosphere, allowing washing of clothes achieving color reduction of the garments, especially on jeans, t-shirts and tops, obtaining the effect: “washed by the sun” while allowing savings of more than 60 percent in water and energy and about 80 percent in chemicals.

It has also developed nano-technology with E-soft that softens clothes with nano bubbles, resulting in savings of 80 percent in energy consumption, and 98 percent water savings. Additionally, this technology uses no chemicals and avoids completely the discharges to the environment.

Says Silla, "Today, there is a global technological movement in textiles aimed at making the industry cleaner and empathetic towards the health of textile workers, while improving efficiency."  Furthermore, Silla stressed the importance of transparency and sustainability during the production process In this regard, he said, "What matters is not only the product itself but the way in which it is made, how it is done. The way we produce it is part of its DNA”:

Jeanologia has customers across five continents and exports of machinery and services accounts for 90 percent of turnover. Jeanologia products and solutions are currently used in more than 45 countries including Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, USA, Germany, Italy, Portugal, India, China, Russia, Japan, Morocco and Bangladesh.

Major brands such as Levi's, Polo Jeans, Abercrombie & Fitch, Edwin Japan, Pepe Jeans, Diesel, Hilfiger Denim, Salsa jeans, and other large retailers such as GAP, Uniqlo, Zara, have placed their trust in this leading Spanish company and the techniques and technologies developed by Jeanologia.
