The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has officially
nominated Ajay Sardana as the Chairman of its National Expert Committee on
Petroleum, Petrochemicals & Chemicals for the 2026 tenure. Mr. Sardana
currently drives strategic operations as the President and Head of Corporate
Affairs at Nayara Energy Limited. This nomination underscores his enduring
commitment to the sector and marks his fifth consecutive year serving in a
Chairman or Co-Chairman capacity within the ICC framework.
The appointment arrives at a critical juncture for the
Indian energy landscape. Domestic demand for petrochemicals continues to surge,
with market analysts projecting the sector to touch a valuation of US$ 300
billion by 2025. Mr. Sardana will spearhead policy advocacy and sector
development to sustain this momentum. His role involves navigating complex
regulatory frameworks and fostering deep collaboration among industry
stakeholders to support India's ambition of becoming a global chemical
manufacturing hub.
Nayara Energy remains a pivotal force in this ecosystem,
operating India's second-largest single-site refinery at Vadinar. The company
is currently executing a significant petrochemical expansion, including the
development of a 450 KTPA Polypropylene plant. Mr. Sardana's dual leadership
role bridges the gap between corporate execution and national policy
formulation, aiming to enhance India's self-reliance in petrochemical
intermediates.
