Government Launches Tex RAMPS Scheme To Build A Future Ready, Innovation Led Textile Ecosystem

The Government of India has approved the Tex RAMPS Scheme, a new national initiative aimed at advancing research, innovation, data intelligence and entrepreneurship across the textile and apparel sector. The scheme carries an outlay of ₹305 crore for FY 2025-26 to FY 2030-31 and will be implemented as a fully funded Central Sector Scheme under the Ministry of Textiles.

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said the scheme reflects a decisive push to transform India into a global leader in sustainable and technology driven textiles. He noted that Tex RAMPS integrates research, analytics, capacity development and start up support to build a competitive and future ready industry.

The scheme focuses on five pillars. The Research and Innovation component will promote work in smart textiles, sustainability and efficiency driven production systems. The Data, Analytics and Diagnostics pillar include the India Size study, employment mapping and supply chain analytics to support stronger policy frameworks. The Integrated Textiles Statistical System will offer real time data and monitoring capabilities for informed decision making.

Capacity Development will strengthen state level planning, training and knowledge sharing. The Start up and Innovation pillar will back incubators, hackathons and academia industry collaboration to accelerate textile entrepreneurship.

Tex RAMPS is expected to boost India’s global competitiveness, increase employment, support informed policymaking and foster deeper collaboration between states, industry and research institutions. The government stated that the scheme aligns with India’s long-term vision to create a resilient, high value and innovation led textile economy.
