The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has appointed Sanjay K
Jain, Managing Director of TT Limited, as the Chairman of its National Expert
Committee on Textiles. The appointment signals a strategic push to strengthen
industry policy engagement, accelerate sectoral reform, and support India’s
ambitions to expand its textile and apparel economy in the coming decade.
Jain, a prominent voice in the industry and a long-time
advocate for fibre diversification, technology adoption, and MSME
competitiveness, is expected to guide the committee on issues shaping the
sector’s future. His leadership comes at a crucial time as India targets a US$
350 billion textile and apparel market by 2030 and works to scale exports to
US$ 100 billion.
ICC noted that Jain’s appointment reflects the need for
experienced leadership to address challenges linked to raw material volatility,
global demand shifts, sustainability compliance, and skill shortages. The
committee will also play a key role in advising on emerging areas such as
technical textiles, circularity, traceability, and investment mobilisation.
TT Limited praised the announcement and highlighted Jain’s
commitment to strengthening India’s position in global supply chains. Industry
stakeholders expect the committee’s work to contribute meaningfully to policy
formulation and growth-focused interventions.
