The Ministry
of Textiles has stepped up consultations on new Budget 2026–27 schemes with a
South Zone workshop in Bengaluru, bringing together states, industry and key
stakeholders.
Textiles
Secretary Neelam Shami Rao underlined the sector’s central role in achieving
Viksit Bharat 2047, calling for stronger value chain linkages, modernisation,
circularity and better use of textile waste.
Officials
highlighted a comprehensive support framework - from modernisation subsidies
and indigenous machinery promotion to Employment Linked Incentives (ELI), wage
support, and ESIC/EPF coverage. Focus areas include cluster infrastructure,
plug-and-play parks, innovation, branding, and Textile Seva Kendras.
Skill
development remains a priority under Samarth 2.0, with industry-aligned courses
and dual certification.
Key schemes
discussed include the Integrated Programme, National Fibre Scheme, TEEM, NHHP,
Tex-Eco, and Mega Textile Parks.
