Textile Schemes Gain Momentum In South Zone Talks

The Ministry of Textiles has stepped up consultations on new Budget 2026–27 schemes with a South Zone workshop in Bengaluru, bringing together states, industry and key stakeholders.

Textiles Secretary Neelam Shami Rao underlined the sector’s central role in achieving Viksit Bharat 2047, calling for stronger value chain linkages, modernisation, circularity and better use of textile waste.

Officials highlighted a comprehensive support framework - from modernisation subsidies and indigenous machinery promotion to Employment Linked Incentives (ELI), wage support, and ESIC/EPF coverage. Focus areas include cluster infrastructure, plug-and-play parks, innovation, branding, and Textile Seva Kendras.

Skill development remains a priority under Samarth 2.0, with industry-aligned courses and dual certification.

Key schemes discussed include the Integrated Programme, National Fibre Scheme, TEEM, NHHP, Tex-Eco, and Mega Textile Parks.
