Saudi Arabia is rapidly expanding its logistics network with the rollout of five new rail-linked freight corridors aimed at speeding up cargo movement across the Kingdom. Announced by Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) on April 10, the project connects Gulf ports with inland industrial hubs and key Red Sea gateways through an integrated rail-road network. The corridors will link major freight centres including Riyadh Dry Port, Dammam, Jubail, Ras Al Khair and Qurayyat, creating faster cargo flows between ports, factories and cross-border trade routes. The move is expected to strengthen sectors such as petrochemicals and mining while boosting Saudi Arabia’s position as a regional logistics hub. Officials also want to cut dependence on long-haul trucking. The new network is expected to remove thousands of lorry trips from roads every year, reducing congestion, improving road safety and lowering emissions. The rollout marks another major push in Saudi Arabia’s aggressive logistics expansion strategy as it races to become a global trade and transport powerhouse.
