Meher
International and Jilin are weaving together recycled innovation, smart supply
chains and global-quality yarn solutions for India’s textile future.
What
if textile waste could come back as premium fashion yarn? What if
sustainability could also mean faster deliveries, better quality and stronger
business?
That
is exactly the story behind Jilin’s next generation of viscose filament yarn
being showcased by its India partner Meher International at Bharat Tex 2026.
The
yarn is made using 30% recycled textile pulp and 70% FSC-certified wood pulp,
creating a true textile-to-textile circular economy solution. Instead of
post-consumer cotton textiles ending up as waste, they get a second life as
high-value filament yarn.
“Sustainability
is not a trend anymore. It is part of the long-term growth strategy,” says
Sumit Agrawal, Director, Meher International, explaining the company’s focus on
responsible sourcing, reduced emissions, lower water consumption and circular
production.
Jilin
has been investing heavily in innovation, developing finer filaments,
low-filament technologies and specialised fibres designed for high-value
fabrics. One of its biggest strengths is traceability - connecting the entire
chain from brands and certified weavers to exporters and finished products.
But
innovation is only one part of the story. Availability matters just as much.
Meher
has built a state-of-the-art 110,000 sq ft warehouse on a major highway, backed
by an investment of over US$ 7 million. The facility uses modern handling
systems, electronic forklifts, automated stacking solutions and customised
pallets to ensure safe and efficient movement of yarn.
The
result? Customers, from small manufacturers to large exporters, get reliable
supply without production delays.
In
today’s fashion world, where brands are racing to reduce lead times, this makes
a big difference. Traditional sourcing routes can take weeks, but ready
availability from local warehouses helps manufacturers respond faster and keep
production moving.
The
partnership also supports India’s manufacturing ambitions. With thousands of
crores invested in high-speed weaving capacity in Gujarat, Meher International is
helping Indian manufacturers access world-class yarn to create premium fabrics
for global markets.
The
viscose filament yarn segment itself is growing rapidly, with the market
expanding around 15% year-on-year, according to Mihir. The growth is also
moving beyond traditional applications like sarees into suits, western wear and
newer fashion categories.
After
a decade-long partnership, Jilin and Meher believe their strength lies in
combining global technology with deep understanding of the Indian textile
market.
The
ambition is clear: create yarn solutions that are sustainable, innovative and
competitive, while helping Indian textiles move from “Made in India” to “Made
for the world.”
“Bharat Tex has grown into much more than a trade exhibition, it has become a global showcase for India’s complete textile story. Bringing together everyone from fibre and yarn suppliers to weavers, manufacturers, garment makers and technology providers, the platform reflects the strength of the entire ecosystem. With innovation, sustainability, investment and global partnerships taking centre stage, Bharat Tex is changing how the world, and India itself, looks at Indian textiles. And with every edition, the event keeps getting bigger, better and more ambitious, creating fresh opportunities for the industry to connect and grow.”_Sumit Agrawal, Director, Meher International
