The
Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil) and CottonConnect (South
Asia) Pvt. Ltd. have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at
enhancing the productivity, quality, and global competitiveness of Indian
cotton under the Kasturi Cotton Bharat brand.
The
collaboration seeks to provide training, workshops, and information platforms
for ginners to consistently meet Kasturi specifications. Also, both parties to
work towards raising awareness among farmers and supply chain stakeholders to
improve cotton quality and optimize productivity.
Further,
it would ensure a steady supply of Kasturi cotton for domestic and
international markets, including Organic, BCI, and Regenerative varieties with
full traceability.
Under
the agreement, Texprocil will lead marketing initiatives for the Kasturi brand,
while CottonConnect will focus on farmer training, workshops, and
sustainability programs. Both parties will jointly identify and enroll ginners,
targeting at least 30 participants in the first year.
The
partnership is expected to generate premium value for cotton producers and
strengthen India’s position in the global textile market by promoting
transparency, sustainability, and resilience in the cotton supply chain.
