The technical textiles market represents one of the
fastest growing segments within the global industrial economy. Market
projections indicate the Indian technical textiles sector will surpass US$ 45
billion while the international market approaches US$ 280 billion. Information
regarding specialised manufacturers, raw materials, machinery, and services has
historically remained fragmented across disparate platforms. Nexio Infotech
Private Limited addressed this void through the launch of TechTextileHub in
early 2026. The digital portal operates as a dedicated global platform serving
the technical textiles ecosystem exclusively under the philosophy
"Developed in India, for the World". Textile Excellence spoke with
Founder and Director Karthik Kumar Sundararaj to understand how this platform
bridges critical industry gaps.
What industrial challenges led to the
inception of TechTextileHub?
Karthik Kumar Sundararaj: My
active involvement in technical textiles began in 2008, spanning manufacturing
operations, global trade, and product development. Direct experience running
Sivshree Medittex in Coimbatore highlighted operational bottlenecks technical
manufacturers confront. Sourcing specialised raw materials, machinery, and
testing services proved fragmented across scattered directories. Generic B2B
portals dilute technical textiles by placing them alongside ordinary consumer
goods. That persistent failure prompted me to spend a year developing a
dedicated platform designed around functional textiles. The portal eliminates
clutter, creating a focused environment for genuine stakeholders.
How does the platform structure its coverage
across the technical textile spectrum?
Karthik Kumar Sundararaj:
Our architecture covers all twelve established technical textile verticals.
These functional divisions comprise Agrotech, Buildtech, Clothtech, Geotech,
Hometech, Indutech, Meditech, Mobiltech, Oekotech, Packtech, Protech, and
Sportech. Operations are organised into four distinct streams across each
vertical. These categories encompass raw materials, finished products,
machinery and equipment, and specialised technical services. We intentionally
encompass everything from polymer fibres to downstream conversion technologies.
The portal brings every tier of the global value chain into a searchable
repository.
How do you guarantee listing credibility and
eliminate unverified participants?
Karthik Kumar Sundararaj:
Trust remains the single most critical asset in high-performance textile
procurement. Generic commercial platforms often drown legitimate manufacturers
beneath fraudulent inquiries. Our backend team conducts a rigorous verification
check on every single company prior to granting directory access. We verify the
operational reality of their manufacturing activities and ecosystem relevance.
More than 140 validated enterprises have completed this onboarding process. Our
primary goal involves constructing an authentic database of credible
international suppliers rather than accumulating inflated counts of unverified
listings.
What commercial subscription model governs
trade transactions across the platform?
Karthik Kumar Sundararaj:
The portal operates strictly through an annual subscription structure,
completely eliminating transaction commissions. Sourcing buyers register
without paying any charges, allowing procurement teams to post request for
quote inquiries directly to verified sellers. Suppliers select from defined
tiers tailored to their commercial scale. Silver subscriptions are priced
around Rs 42,000 plus taxes. Gold tiers stand at Rs 78,000 plus taxes. Platinum
subscriptions require Rs 150,000 plus taxes, providing unlimited product
catalogues alongside unrestricted enquiry responses. Digital infrastructure
should empower direct connectivity without extracting trading percentages.
What institutional relationships have you
established to foster ecosystem growth?
Karthik Kumar Sundararaj:
Institutional alignment forms an essential pillar of our digital expansion
strategy. We signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding alongside the Indian
Technical Textile Association. This alliance provides mutual benefits,
extending global exposure to association members while creating platform
awareness. In addition, we coordinate bi monthly technical webinars addressing
specialized verticals. Our recent Meditech session featured key domain
specialists from the South India Textile Research Association, attracting
numerous attendees. Regular educational newsletters keep subscribers updated
regarding emerging technological trends, market movements, and regulatory
changes.
How does the platform incorporate
specialized services and equipment manufacturers?
Karthik Kumar Sundararaj:
Transitioning from conventional fabric manufacturing to high-performance
technical textiles requires dedicated guidance. Our services directory features
accredited testing laboratories, regulatory bodies, and technical consultants
who assist traditional mills venturing into value added industrial fabrics.
Regarding machinery, we are proactively onboarding domestic and international
technology manufacturers. Our team will participate in the upcoming ITME
exhibition in Noida to interact directly with global equipment makers.
Establishing direct interfaces ensures that Indian mills modernise their plants
using compliant engineering solutions.
What technological innovations and
artificial intelligence applications will emerge on your roadmap?
Karthik Kumar Sundararaj:
Artificial intelligence integration represents our main technological priority
over the next 24 to 48 months. We intend to launch an interactive chatbot
alongside automated discovery algorithms that instantly pair buyer requests
with suitable supplier specifications. Future developments will include direct
email integration, allowing procurement teams to route technical specifications
directly into platform sourcing channels. A dedicated mobile application is
also planned, granting executives seamless access to international directories,
quote requests, and order inquiries directly from their smartphones.
What long term ambition guides
TechTextileHub across global markets?
Karthik Kumar Sundararaj:
Our ambition remains focused on establishing TechTextileHub as the ultimate
digital backbone for functional textiles worldwide. The long-term objective
transcends a basic directory, aiming to build a global sourcing and knowledge
network. In my perspective, “Technical Textiles is already a highly specialised
global industry, but its digital discovery ecosystem remains fragmented. Our
vision with TechTextileHub is to bring companies, products, technologies,
services, knowledge and business opportunities into one focused global
environment. We are building it in India, but we are building it for the
world”.
