One-Step Dyeing For A Washed-Down Denim Look

What if a washed-down denim look could be created in one dyeing step instead of several?

That is the pitch behind InOneGO by Archroma, now moving into commercial production through a partnership with Portuguese home textile manufacturer Lameirinho.

Lameirinho’s first InOneGO bedlinen collection is already available worldwide.

The continuous dyeing process combines colouration, fixation and softening into a single pad-dry application step. Developed for woven cellulosic textiles including denim, fashionwear and home textiles, it can create everything from authentic indigo looks to vintage and wash-down effects.

The bigger story, however, is what happens to the resource bill.

Impact assessments using Archroma’s ONE WAY Impact Calculator found that, when InOneGO is used with its DIRESUL RDT dyes on woven fabrics including denim and jacquard, the process can deliver:

-        -81% less process time

- 97% less water consumption

-65% less energy consumption

- 75% less CO₂ emissions

That is a dramatic reduction in processing steps, particularly relevant for washed and distressed effects, which traditionally require repeated washing and additional water and energy.

InOneGO works with Archroma’s DIRESUL RDT pre-reduced low-sulfur liquid dyes, as well as its EarthColors and FiberColors biomass-based sulfur dyes.

“This is a genuine structural innovation,” said Julio Perales, Technical & Product Segment Manager, Archroma Textile Effects, noting that the process can deliver distressed character without compromising fastness.

For mills, the attraction is simple: less processing, less resource use and potentially much faster production.
