Lindex and WaterAid have launched a three-year project in
Chattogram, Bangladesh, to improve the health and wellbeing of women textile
workers and their families.
The initiative will combine climate-adapted water,
sanitation and hygiene infrastructure with education and stronger dialogue
between workers, communities and factories. Priorities include access to safe
water, menstrual health and hygiene, and protection from heat-related health
risks.
The project also aims to develop a global framework to help
fashion companies assess and improve suppliers’ water, sanitation and hygiene
practices, with a focus on women’s health and human rights. It is expected to
reach around 15,000 people.
Lindex and WaterAid have worked together since 2014, with
projects in Bangladesh improving living conditions for nearly 35,000 people to
date.
