Fong's Is Upbeat About The Market Post-ITMA

A huge booth, occupying the centre area of the hall welcomes us to take a look around all the innovations that's in store for ITMA. The usual business chatter was completely relevant here as well and we could make out that business was booming. It was not so much of a task to find Walter S. W. Leung, the energetic man from Fong's was more than eager to throw light on the progresses of Fong's and ITMA. Anurima Das, in conversation with Walter S.W. Leung, Director, Sales & Marketing (Overseas), Fong's.

What has ITMA unravelled for you?

ITMA was exceptionally good this time. We are very happy and the response is more than what we expected. It was an overwhelming start here this year and we can definitely go back content. We were initially a little worried about the sudden devastations at France and thought there would be ups and downs with the visitor count. But our worries have taken a backseat with the satisfying interests of people.

How has the overall customer response been for you?

To begin with customer response, we should mention that Latin American customers have been visiting us in good numbers from the start and then post Diwali the Indians also started coming, so we have been a having a full house and keeping very busy attending to their queries and understanding their requirements.

Is the market hopeful too?

This is a difficult question to address. Even though the global response was so good, even though the overall response at ITMA was so satisfying but projecting the same on the market is of course not a solution. It is not easy to predict the market in the coming months and since the last few months the market seems to be a little sluggish, especially in India.

How do you see Fong's performing in the Indian and Bangladesh market, post ITMA?

I would specially use the word 'optimistic' when you ask me about the Indian market. Yes we are very hopeful regarding this market. And luckily we are at good grounds even in Bangladesh it seems, this is owing to the response we got at ITMA in the last few days.
