Lenzing Group CEO Rohit Aggarwal set a decisive tone for the
future of the global fibre industry at the Global Fiber Congress Asia in
Mumbai, outlining a strategic vision he termed Smart Scale. The framework
focuses on growth driven through responsibility, circularity, partnerships, and
digital innovation. Lenzing, known for its leadership in sustainable fibre
solutions and consistent EcoVadis Platinum ratings, used the platform to
highlight India’s expanding influence in the global textile and nonwovens
landscape.
Aggarwal stressed that the next era of manufacturing will
prioritize differentiated innovation over sheer size. He added that India’s
textile and nonwovens ecosystem, which integrates design strength,
sustainability ambitions, and large-scale manufacturing capabilities, is
positioned to accelerate global shifts toward cleaner and smarter materials.
Lenzing’s flagship fibres TENCEL, LENZING ECOVERO, and
VEOCEL are now embedded in collections developed in collaboration with renowned
Indian designers and brands including House of Anita Dongre and Rajesh Pratap
Singh. The company’s push toward circularity through REFIBRA technology, which
transforms cotton waste into new fibres, holds particular relevance for India’s
cotton-centric value chain.
The Group’s engagement at Bharat Tex and Fibers and Yarns
Expo signals a deepening partnership with the Indian industry, supported
further through investments in traceability tools such as TextileGenesis and
Lenzing Pro. A recent EUR 15 million investment to expand viscose capacity
reinforces its commitment to strengthening the hygiene and nonwovens market.
Aggarwal underscored that Smart Scale is built on
collaboration and transparency. He said the Group aims to co-create solutions
with India’s designers, manufacturers, and exporters that raise global
benchmarks in responsible production. Lenzing reported revenue of EUR 2.66
billion in 2024 and operates fibre capacities of more than 1.1 million tonnes
globally.
Aggarwal stressed that the next era of manufacturing will prioritize differentiated innovation over sheer size. He added that India’s textile and nonwovens ecosystem, which integrates design strength, sustainability ambitions, and large-scale manufacturing capabilities, is positioned to accelerate global shifts toward cleaner and smarter materials.
