CEPC Elects New Leadership As Mukesh Kumar Gombar And Aslam Mahboob Take Charge For 2025

The Carpet Export Promotion Council announced its new leadership for 2025, marking an important moment for India’s handmade carpet export sector. The results were declared at Hotel Crowne Plaza, Okhla in New Delhi in the presence of member exporters, senior council members and officials overseeing the election process.

Capt. Mukesh Kumar Gombar has been elected Chairperson, while Aslam Mahboob will serve as Vice Chairperson. Their election follows a transparent e-voting process supported by NSDL and supervised by the Returning Officer, Dr. Smita Nagarkoti, along with an observer appointed by the Ministry of Textiles, Dr. Sukhbir Singh Badhal. Members of the Election Committee, including Onkar Nath Misra and Umesh Kumar Gupta, were also present during the declaration of results.

The announcement comes at a time when India’s handmade carpet sector continues to play a vital role in global home furnishing exports. India accounts for nearly 40% of the global handmade carpet market, supported by strong demand in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. The sector provides employment to more than two million artisans across major clusters such as Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Jaipur and Srinagar.

The newly elected leadership is expected to focus on enhancing global market access, strengthening branding initiatives and deepening support for exporters amid evolving compliance requirements in key international markets. CEPC acknowledged the active participation of its members and expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Textiles and the Ministry of Commerce for their support in ensuring a smooth election process.
