Indorama Ventures has strengthened its push towards textile
circularity with the launch of textile recycled Trevira CS Eco flame retardant
fibres and yarns, marking a significant step in sustainable material innovation
for interior and contract textiles.
The development is enabled through Indorama Ventures’
strategic joint venture with Jiaren Chemical Recycling, a specialist in textile-to-textile
recycling. The partnership focuses on converting post-consumer and industrial
textile waste into recycled polyester chips, which are then transformed into
high modified Trevira flame retardant fibres and yarns. Fabrics produced using
these fibres can qualify for the Trevira CS Eco brand while retaining the
permanent flame-retardant performance associated with Trevira CS since 1980.
Jesper Nielsen, Global Key Account Manager Flame Retardancy
at Indorama Ventures, explained that the initiative allows customers to combine
circularity credentials with long term safety and performance. The approach
ensures that sustainability gains do not come at the cost of comfort durability
or regulatory compliance, which remain critical in public and commercial
interior applications.
Indorama Ventures announced its partnership with Jiaren
Chemical Recycling in November 2025, underlining its ambition to scale textile
circularity and reduce reliance on virgin raw materials. The newly introduced
Trevira CS Eco fibres represent one of the first tangible outcomes of this
collaboration, supporting more resource efficient textile production while
meeting stringent fire safety standards.
The innovation arrives at a time when the global textile
industry is under increasing pressure to reduce environmental impact. Textile
production contributes nearly 3% of global CO2 emissions, while circular
solutions are projected to cut lifecycle emissions by over 30% in synthetic
fibre value chains. Trevira CS Eco positions Indorama Ventures at the
intersection of safety performance and circular design, offering brands and
specifiers a credible pathway to meet sustainability goals without compromise.
