The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI)
concluded a landmark participation at Bharat Tex 2026, strengthening India's
position as a preferred global apparel sourcing destination through
sustainability, innovation, international collaboration and industry
leadership.
CMAI facilitated the participation of more than 100
exhibitors across multiple halls, showcasing the breadth of India's apparel
manufacturing ecosystem. The Brands of India Pavilion featured over 70 leading
apparel brands, while the dedicated Innerwear and Sleepwear Pavilion
highlighted the rapid growth of India's intimate wear segment and its expanding
global potential.
Sustainability remained a major focus throughout the
exhibition. In partnership with the Global Alliance for Textile Sustainability,
CMAI curated the Eco Stitch Sustainability and Circularity Hub, bringing
together manufacturers, brands, recyclers, technology providers, investors and
policymakers. Product launches, technology demonstrations, sustainability
discussions and strategic partnerships underscored India's growing commitment
to circular manufacturing and responsible production.
Another major highlight was the launch of the India
Textiles and Apparel CXO Blueprint 2030 by Union Textiles Minister Shri
Giriraj Singh. Prepared jointly by CMAI and GATS, the report outlines a
strategic roadmap centred on sustainability, digital traceability, innovation
and advanced manufacturing to enhance India's global competitiveness.
CMAI also hosted several high-level policy dialogues and
international leadership sessions featuring the International Apparel
Federation, Gherzi Textile Organisation, Deloitte, CITI and leading global
apparel executives. Discussions focused on retail expansion, global supply
chains, manufacturing excellence and India's emerging leadership in fashion and
textiles.
India's textile and apparel industry currently contributes
nearly 2.3% to the country's GDP, around 13% to industrial production and about
8.2% to merchandise exports, while employing over 45 million people directly.
Against the national target of achieving US$100 billion in textile and
apparel exports by 2030, CMAI's initiatives at Bharat Tex 2026 reaffirm the
industry's determination to accelerate innovation, sustainability and global
market expansion.
